KhattarWong Charity Golf Tournament 2008 Print

KhattarWong is proud to present its inaugural Charity Golf Tournament on 14 March 2008 at the Singapore Island Country Club. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Children's Cancer Foundation.

Set up in 1992, CCF’s mission is to improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families through enhancing their emotional, social and medical well-being. CCF is an independent organization, solely funded by public and corporate donations. Operating from two Family Support Centres located at KK Women's & Children's Hospital and National University Hospital, CCF provides free programmes and counseling services for children with cancer and their families.

This year, we are hoping to raise S$150,000 through this golf tournament. Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Dr Lee Boon Yang is our Guest of Honour. All contributions generated from this event will be disbursed to the CCF, with KhattarWong funding the cost of the tournament.

The funds will be used to set up a teleconferencing facility for children who have just undergone a bone marrow transplant (BMT) at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital. BMT patients are isolated in hospital rooms as their immune system is very weak. As such, only 1 care giver is allowed to see them on a regular basis. This teleconferencing system will allow children recovering from BMT to speak to their siblings, friends and family remotely, and will enable them to stave off the effects of long periods of isolation.
