| KhattarWong raises S$160,000 for Children’s Cancer Foundation through charity golf tournament |  |
KhattarWong, one of Singapore’s largest premier law firms since 1974, raised S$160,000 for the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) through its inaugural charity golf tournament held last Friday, 14 March at Singapore Island Country Club. Attended by guest-of-honour Dr Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, the event was part of the legal firm’s concerted effort to do its part for charity through a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility programme. The funds raised will be used to set up a state-of-the-art teleconferencing facility for children who have undergone bone marrow transplants at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital. As their immune systems are weak, these children require isolation in hospital rooms and this teleconferencing facility will allow them to speak with their loved ones during the recovery period. Said Dr Lee, “I would like to congratulate KhattarWong for making this exceptional effort for raising funds for the Children’s Cancer Foundation. This is a laudable effort on the part of a top law firm in Singapore to do its part for community service and charity. I hope that KhattarWong will keep up this fine tradition and continue to be an outstanding corporate citizen, doing its part for charity and fund-raising for other charity organizations.” Apart from the charity golf tournament, KhattarWong has also planned an outing with the children from CCF in July. This has been co-organised by the students at National University of Singapore Law School, who will interact with the children socially and recreationally. Said Mr Tan, “We have a full calendar of activities planned for the year with CCF as our adopted charity in place, and we hope to inculcate a sense of giving back to the community in tomorrow’s lawyers."
