Congratulations to Tan Kia Hua from the Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Law, who is awarded the KhattarWong Scholarship in Law recipient for academic year 2011/12.

Kia Hua won the top first year law student for his cohort with a GPA of 4.0. He is also actively involved in various community service projects both locally and overseas. He participated in Project Samrong, teaching English to students in Cambodia, and also went on a Christian Mission to Philippines to conduct children’s programmes and community outreach programmes.

KhattarWong also congratulates Ng Sheng You, Samuel from SMU School of Law on being the recipient the KhattarWong Prize for the Top Student in Corporate & Commercial Law for academic year 2010/11.

Samuel was the joint top first year law student in his cohort and had also won various top subject prizes, amongst them the top student in Tort Law and Criminal Law. Apart from excelling at his studies, he is also actively involved in various events run by the student Law Society, taking up many leadership positions, including the Co-head of Programmes for the annual law students sports event in 2009, and the role of Vice Chairperson for the Law Social Event “Movies & Dinner”.

Kia Hua and Samuel were both delighted and grateful upon hearing the good news.

Kia Hua said, “I am truly honoured to have been awarded the KhattarWong Scholarship. I am very thankful for being awarded this scholarship for two reasons. From a financial standpoint, it helps alleviate the financial burden on my parents of putting three children through university almost at the same time. Personally, it also serves as an encouragement to me that reinforces and validates my sense of calling towards the legal profession.”

Samuel also added that he feels honoured and privileged to have won the prize. 'I feel deeply grateful towards KhattarWong for their generous sponsorship. The prize is not only an affirmation of my academic abilities but also a great encouragement for me to continue to strive towards greater heights", he said.
